A-hus is awarded passive house certification for our solid wood frame construction. With a newly developed product, we are eager to build both climate friendly and cost efficient.
We have developed wall/panel construction methods complying with EU passive house building standards, and have recently been awarded a certificate issued by the Passive House Institute in Darmstadt, Germany. Developers certified for passive house constructions today use I-beams. Building with solid wood frame has its advantages, says Anders Carlsson, Technical Manager at A-hus.
- The type of construction is interesting since the lowered cost is paralleled by the multi-story construction potential. It is advantageous to construct vertical and compact passive house buildings as it equates to greater energy savings, explains Anders Carlsson.
The certificate was honoured by German Passivhaus GmbH, where Professor Dr. Wolfgang Feist, Director of the Passive House Institute, Darmstadt, is the key engineer. Dr. Wolfgang is the founder of the Passive House Institute and is a pioneer within passive house construction in Europe. The development of energy efficient solutions is something highly prioritized by the Derome Group.
- The entire passive house construction is certified, including walls, roof, and connections to the intermediate floor structure and concrete foundation. Components not included in the certificate are optional products like windows and doors, but even with elective product choices we are able to choose suppliers that have climate-approved products, Anders Carlsson adds.
In recent years the Derome Group have invested 37 million SEK in a new production line at the manufacturing plant located south of Gothenburg. The product is suited for large production volumes such as building elements for passive houses. Per-Åke Lundin, Vice Director for A-hus says that the certificate plays a crucial role.
- The certificate serves as key documentation for our future house exports. We’re noticing a heightened interest in passive houses and therefore climate demands are on the rise. Our aim is to have a climate shell that meets future regulations on house manufacturers, and therefore we are developing the technology on a constant basis, says Per-Åke Lundin.
The certificate demonstrates A-hus’ capability to produce prefabricated units; where levels of energy-consumption and air tightness lie under passive house standards of many other European countries.
